Buying online

We appreciate that buying online can involve a leap of faith, and so have made every effort to portray the items on our website and in attendant photographs as closely as possible to how they appear in the flesh. Nevertheless, the vagaries of screen settings and calibrations may result in slight variations in how the furniture is viewed on your phone, tablet or laptop/desktop. If you are unsure about the shade of finished wood used in any of our pieces of furniture, get in touch and we will happily send you a sample.

Please measure up the intended space for your furniture before purchasing, taking careful note of the dimensions of items that are sold through the Hyrst website. We cannot accept items for return because they will not fit through doorways or do not fit their intended location within your property. 


Furniture for your home

The timber we use at Hyrst has been dried first ‘in stick’ and then in a heat/vent kiln, reducing moisture content to the right level of stability for use in making solid wood furniture. As a living material, however, wood will continue to absorb and release moisture in your home. Protecting your Hyrst furniture from extremes of temperature or humidity will help to reduce any shrinkage or expansion in the wood; avoid placing items too close to radiators or areas of underfloor heating. Similarly, once purchased, avoid storing your furniture for more than 48 hours in an area where the temperatures are likely to be below or above what it typical in the home; Hyrst will not replace items of furniture that have been damaged in the course of inappropriate storage before introduction into the home. 



Following the care instructions on our website should ensure your furniture will give you many years – even generations – of use. We warrant that the items sold by Hyrst accord with the descriptions given on our website. We also warrant that your item of furniture will be free from material or structural defect at the time of delivery. Our warranty does not apply to defects arising from everyday use of the item(s) in your property, or accidental or wilful damage or inappropriate storage (see note above in ‘Furniture in your home’) by you or any third party. Similarly, our warranty does not apply to items for which any care instructions supplied by Hyrst have not been followed. Nor does our warranty cover items on which you or any third party has carried out any alteration, repair or modification.


Lead times

The lead time for furniture orders at Hyrst is 6 to 8 weeks. Once an order is placed – and throughout production – we will keep you updated on progress. Occasionally, circumstances beyond our control may result in an order being delayed. We work hard to make sure any such delays are rare and short-lived.



Visit our delivery page for info on how and when furniture deliveries are made (by a nice bloke called Steve). The charge for delivery will be added when you checkout on the Hyrst website; the cost will be dependent on how far away you live from our workshop here in Suffolk, and the size of the item(s) purchased. 



All furniture produced by Hyrst is made to order. Furniture orders with Hyrst can be cancelled within seven working days of order placement. Please contact us if you wish to cancel your order. Orders cancelled within seven working days of being placed will receive a full refund. Because all furniture at Hyrst is made to order here in Suffolk, cancellations on orders made more than seven working days after they are placed will be treated on a case-by-case basis and any refund will be subject to Hyrst’s discretion.



Furniture and other items made to order by Hyrst can only be returned or exchanged if faulty. If you have returned your item(s) because it is faulty, we will refund the price of the product in full. If your piece of furniture does need to be returned because of a fault, Hyrst will cover the costs of returning the item to our workshop.
